Status Tracking: From Planned to Approved
Track install progress per device with color-coded status rings. Three workflow modes give you the right status options for new installs, surveys, and sales walkthroughs.
How status works
Every device you place on a floor plan can carry a status that tracks where it is in the workflow. The status shows as a colored ring around the device icon, visible both in the editor and in the exported PDF.
Status is per-device, not per-plan. Camera C1 can be "Installed" while C2 is still "Wired". This is what makes FieldMarkup useful for active installs: as your crew works through the job, each device's status updates independently.
Workflow modes and their statuses
The status options you see depend on the workflow mode you picked when creating the project:
| Workflow mode | Statuses (in order) |
|---|---|
| New install | Planned (slate) → Wired (yellow) → Installed (blue) → Tested (purple) → Approved (green) |
| Site survey | In Place (gray) · To Be Replaced (orange) · To Be Upgraded (yellow) · To Be Removed (red) · Proposed (blue) |
| Sales proposal | Proposed (blue) · Existing (gray) · Customer Approved (green) · Customer Declined (red) · Won (gold) · Lost (zinc) |
You can change a project's workflow mode after creation in project settings. If you convert a Sales Proposal to a New Install (won the job, now executing), statuses remap automatically: "Proposed" becomes "Planned".
Updating status
There are three ways to update a device's status:
- In the editor: select a device, then click the status pill in the properties panel to cycle through states. Each click advances to the next status.
- On the mobile viewer: open the markup on your phone at
/m/[markupId], tap a device in the Devices tab, and tap the new status. This is how field techs update progress from the job site. - On the device matrix: open the Device Matrix page from the project sidebar. Every device appears as a row with a status dropdown. Good for bulk updates at the end of a shift.
Status marker (tracking circle)
The Status marker in the Misc category is a special icon for tracking existing devices that are already on the floor plan. Instead of placing a camera icon on top of one that's already printed on the PDF, you place a status marker circle around it.
The circle's color automatically matches its current status. As you cycle the status, the ring color changes, giving you a visual overlay of install progress on top of the architect's original plan without redrawing any devices.
